Wrote a review on this already to Asus and I was going to link to it, but I'm getting that famous, "We're Sorry, The Page You're Looking for Can't Be Found." That being said, this headset is fantastic, you have an RGB switch as well as a volume control, a detachable mic, the detachable mic is flexible. You also get an Extension cable where you connect it to a USB-C and at the end of it will be a USB-A so you can connect it to a USB port. The Asus Armoury Crate for the device gives you more control on what you can do with the headset. For the record I want to say this is 5 stars for FPS gaming, but I gave it overall 4 for general use. I have had many headsets over the years mostly Turtle Beach and Astro A40s and they all seem to work well for a while but then break or have issues of some sort so I'll be updating this after a year of use but here is my current impressions:GAMING: I bought this over other products because I wanted to try something different. I play on Playstation 4 and really enjoy FPS games such as Apex Legends or Call of Duty. As any FPS player will know, hearing where the enemy is becomes critical to your gameplay in the more competitive scene. I'm not a pro or streamer, but I will say that this headset has far outperformed any other that I have used. The QUAD DAC actually lets me hear where enemies are far sooner than my Turtle Beach (my A40s broke long ago). Not only can I HEAR them sooner, I can accurately pinpoint when they are climbing and their direction of travel. This has proven to be extremely useful as I can hear a flanking Wraith and know exactly when and what she is climbing allowing me the upper in the fight.MUSIC/ENTERTAINMENT: If you're an audiophile or looking for a headset that you can use for gaming, music, movies, etc. this does have a lot of customizable options. However, from other reviews it seems that even with the customizable options in the ASUS Armory Crate, it seems to lack still. For just gaming, this is by far my top pick, and everything still sounds good to me music/entertainment wise but I am not an audiophile and this thing has a short wire that can get annoying which is why I'm giving this 4 stars.QUALITY: The build quality is pretty good so far, I haven't had any issues with the detachable mic, ear cups, or fitting. It's still early only been a month so I'll update this as I have more time and wear on the headset. The headset comes with cloth mesh and leather ear cups so you can take your pick of which feels better. The leather ear cups in my opinion are just too hot to wear when playing longer gaming sessions but are a bit softer. The ability to change them is great, well done ASUS.My one complaint is that the wire is not long on this headset, so if you're on console like me, you may want a longer extension to your system since THIS DOES NOT PLUG INTO YOUR CONTROLLER. It plugs into the USB port on your console which makes things a bit cumbersome. If you're looking for a headset that gives you more precise sound and movement of travel I would highly recommend the ROG DELTA. If you are a PC player you have even more options to tune the headset using preset game modes or fully customizing BASS, TREB etc.Have been into corsair for a while but their headsets fall apart way too easily, icue stinks or the dongle constantly fails. This has been a god send almost. I bought refurbished and its been nothing but good since day one. The software was a little tricky understanding it at first but now if this stops working I'll just get another asus product instead.Would recommend for sure.I really liked these headphones, the colors are cute and they are very comfortable. The sound quality is good, not noise canceling but pretty decent. I have only had these headphones for a year and some change before the mic stopped working. Wish it lasted longer, especially for the price.Comfortable ! good quality, i like itGreat product however two issues, one it's very bulky and two is the microphone doesn't work very well. It's either too quiet or they can't hear me.This headset is, in my opinion, the perfect headset. The sound quality is fantastic; the cable is long and braided; it looks great; it even lights up. The problems with this headset arrive around a year into use. The cushions begin to fray; the wire becomes unfixably twisted; the usb-c connector may need to be wiggled around a bit in order for it to connect; small problems that aren't too annoying. After 2 years of use, I'm buying a different pair of headphones. The headset disconnects CONSTANTLY, and the wire is an unsightly golden brown. I'd say, for the price, this headset isn't worth it. A headset well above $100 shouldn't last any less than three years without problems.Surprise coming from a relatively unknown headset company but they blew it out of the park.Pros+Super comfortable, out of the box. Light weight, soft cloth (not athletic rough stuff), not too tight, this headset can be worn all day without any discomfort right away.+Directional hearing is THE best I've ever used. I've tried everything from razer to Sennheiser with supporting hardware and THIS gives the best directional ques. I can hear a hanzo ult, and tell where it started and what direction it will go. I can tell what room people are in above and off to the side in Fortnite. These headphones are a distinct advantage and worth getting for this alone. I've STOPPED using my speaker setup for this advantage even when solo.+Mic is crystal clear, it's not phone quality but I've had multiple people in discord comment on my voice quality.+Noise cancelling is above normal. I have small children, and these have enough noise cancelling that I can block them out when they come in during a gaming session. What's better is the mic doesn't pic them up, it doesn't even pick up my phone playing videos though it does pick up my knuckles cracking oddly enough.ConsNoneThis is the first headset I've owned for gaming that has left me never wanting to try another headset. Whatever you have to do to justify buying these, do it. Sell your blood, whatever, it's worth it.The mic Is excellent (I've set it to 50%) and the headphones can go rather loud just off the controller connection on ps5. Sounds aee distinct and the bass is present but not overbearing. The cable is the perfect length for a controller connection. Can't fault the product. I wanted a 3.5mm jack and got one.Hello, it is my honour to review the ROG Theta 7.1. I’ll tell you right now, this isn’t a joke, these cans are serious business. The sound quality is excellent, they are extremely comfortable. The trade offs are...1. The microphone is only tolerable if you have noise canceling on, the AI feature on and your microphone output maxed and close to your mouth for it to be tolerable. It’s an OK for the mic. I think including the mic in the trade offs was a mistake but maybe they didn’t have a choice with the limited space and what not.2. It’s not plug and play, you have to fine tune this beast and then it becomes a beauty you see. There’s a lack of bass on purpose to have better sound quality for when it comes to gaming. Personally, I think it’s worth trading off but you could definitely argue that some enjoy music while gaming. Yes you’d be right, that is nice but they are made for sweaty ranked players that don’t do that because that’s a disadvantage.3. For the price, if you don’t care just get the delta, it has a better mic and isn’t as large. Checking out steelseries Arctis pro (had that before) can’t go wrong there as well! Only if you have a medium to small head though lol.HOWEVER, If you are like me and you know you’re looking for something very specific, then this is the closest you’re going to get. When it comes to sound, once you put on a preset in the armoury program, it’s not fair in shooters. You absolutely hear tiny details you shouldn’t be able to hear, that are far away and that is where this thing makes me smile!I want to touch on surround sound. I had virtual before and the rog theta is one of few that has real surround, that’s the reason they are huge. In my honest opinion and experience, the difference is huge in a small way and I know that sounds odd. Before I would be able to hear steps just the same but only halfway down the hall but couldn’t tell where exactly. Sometimes people coming up behind me from a different floor or if the enemy is simply close by in the next room, that’s hard to deal with. I’d always have a rough idea of where but never REALLY knew. Left, front and right would be clear most of the time. So distance is a thing, extra rooms, flanks and above or below. I’d have to seriously focus to establish what isn’t clear and would rely on my experience to sort of make an educated guess. Then I’d move accordingly. K now with the theta, I can easily hear all the way down the hall, pinpoint what floor, room, where they are in the room, behind me and flanks even when close are crystal clear. The small details are suddenly very clear. It’s really not fair and now I understand how I would get shot across a wall in game out of nowhere. It feels like you are a world class Olympian runner and you finally found a pair that allows you to run as fast as you can actually run, without hesitation. You feel free and just so much more comfortable/capable with nothing holding you back anymore. Having knowledge of clear small detail is just a massive advantage! So the difference is distance of details picked up, so you hear further and quality of information, you can pinpoint stuff that you wouldn’t be able to before, even far away.I took a star off for the microphone because I don’t understand why you couldn’t get a decent microphone at that price point, it actually hurts my brain. We are in 2021 you can stuff the sickest technology in those cans but you couldn’t do the mic. Theta 2 7.1 should fix that. Then value for money I would take a star off. Overall 4 out of 5 stars because the sound of these cans are so beautiful in a shooter, I overlook the OK mic and the pick a preset and the expensive purchase due to the sound quality. But that’s on you to make that decision.EDIT: it’s been a while now, they are still great for those advantages I listed but I have to add another negative. At max volume, I sometimes can’t help but feel it’s not loud enough. It’s on the border of I can live with it and I can’t. Again, just a very specific product, in 2021 I would look at steelseries pro, Logitech pro, corsair virtuoso or hyperX if you want something good that’s not expensive and finally i just ordered the audeze mobius everyone swears by, which is expensive but hey, I’m on a journey for the perfect cans! Hope this helps, cheers! That’s my two cents. Enjoy, stay healthy and safe! Cheers!Well I basically give everything 5 stars. Super comfortable, light. Sound amazing. look great. RGB is nice (although I just keep it off) But my only Gripe against it is that the cord is SUPER stiff and is always getting tangled up and makes itself shorter. I have had the c-type usb pop out of the connection because the cord was bunched up and when I turned my head it yanked the connector out. WHY does the cord have to be SO STIFF. if the thing was made of a slightly different material it would be glowing reviews. I have had to hang the headset up by the cord over a door over night 4 times already to get the cord to behave. lasts for about two days then it winds itself back up to like a 2 ft length cord.
