This product has so much formaldehyde in the word that when you sit there at the desk you start getting a headache after while we’re trying to figure out a way to get rid of it I don’t know if it’s gonna work or not either way I guess we’re keeping the desk. Like I said way too much formaldehyde in the wood. Buyer beware just so you knowThis may be better than paper covered particle board.-It's covered in an incredibly thin laminate that might be harder than the paper covered furniture.-Size, Style and Color are exactly what I expected.-Was packaged nicely for shipping.-Not bad to assemble. Should take about an hour, if everything fits (it didn't).The flaws are significant, but should have been easily preventable:-The front edge is curved (nice), but where the curve meets the top it feels uncomfortably sharp (not nice). You're not going to injure yourself, but it's right where your forearms are likely to rest.-Some of the screws that are visible on the finished surface, easily stripped out. In the process of fixing with epoxy and toothpicks, i found the problem was that the holes were not deep enough. An extra 1/8th inch would have done it.-The poor fitting screws were meant to be covered w/ a maple colored flat plastic button, but because the screws don't fit flush, they stick up like mushrooms.-One piece of trim was too large and needed to be sanded down.-I was shorted one confirmat screw, that most folks wouldn't have in their spare parts jar. (but I got an extra plastic mushroom :-)-Fixing the screws and trim cost me a 2nd hour of assembly time.Other thoughts:I paid $145, which was marked as a $12 reduction (since ____? ). For $12 I'd have happily paid for a little better assembly hardware. Upgrading from confirmat screws to inserts might have cost $2.I didn't install the keyboard tray which adds nothing to the structural integrity. The middle shelf and middle support could be deeper, but the box was exactly 75lbs. I'll bet they trimmed material away to make some shipper's 75lb shipping limit.I plan to get a desk top protector (low cost heavy duty laminate) which may cover the sharp edge.Bottom Line:This is an acceptable desk for a teen at a decent price. I'd buy it again. I'd suggest the following:-Check the hole depths before assembly & makes sure the confirmat screws seem to grip.-Install the vertical trim 1st, then fit check the horizontal trim over the shelf and over the keyboard tray.I might even buy a few particle board inserts or at least brush the inside of some of the holes w/ epoxy & sawdust before assembling.I had to leave the sliding keyboard off this because there is no way I could have gotten my office chair under the desk without hitting my knees. I worked around this by getting a monitor riser which I used for my laptop. It had enough room underneath to slide the keyboard under it and still use it for typing.. ( I do not like the keyboard on my laptop!) The desk itself was a bit low, so I purchased risers to lift it up a couple of inches. I also purchased a desktop stand for the printer which allowed for storage of paper and incidentals under the printer. I am quite happy with the setup.Due to the pandemic, I just got called back to work after being on furlough for 3 months and now working from home. So I needed to set up my office and I found this desk which was easy to put together which I did by myself. Only thing I didn’t like is that it doesn’t have the letters on the desk for you to know what part is what, but by looking at the pictures on the instructions I was able to figure it out. Very sturdy and I love the texture. Fits perfectly and I love itLooks pretty decent from the front. But its really sad that furniture has gotten so cheap that it is almost like a facade. There is no edge banding on the back side of the desk... pull it out from the wall and you are looking at bare particleboard on the entire approach side of the desk. They didn't even paint it black. Yeah... you get what you pay for, but it's still sad. This desk looks very polished and works just fine. However, the desk took about 2 weeks to ship and it was not easy to put together. I've put together several pieces of furniture from stores like Walmart, Target, and Ikea, and these directions were not as simple in my opinion. It took my husband and I about 2-3 hours to put it together. Keep in mind that this is not a piece one person can put together alone - you will need a second person to hold the pieces steady because they are big/heavy. Also, the top piece was slightly warped and would not fit well onto the other pieces. Because it is the top and gravity seems to keep it on, we're okay with it. We also left out the keyboard tray completely. We measured and it was also too low for my husband to sit there, so we didn't put it on. We didn't buy it for the keyboard tray, so it's not a big deal. My husband uses the desk for his computer and he seems to like it just fine. It is a nice addition to our study.Pros: Nice looking desk, it seems sturdy, it's functional, it's inexpensiveCons: Took a long time to ship, not easy to put together, one warped pieceArrived in time and packaged well. All needed screws, etc. were provided & directions fairly easy to follow. The only thing I did not like was that the back was not completely "finished". This would not be an issue if desk is up against a wall, but in my case the desk needed to face outward and toward an entry door and it looked unfinished and like pieces were missing. Thankfully my husband was able to cut out pieces to cover the back of the shelf and made some "trim" strips so it now looks "finished". It is a nice looking desk for the price and we selected it initially because it looked nice in the photo and was the perfect size for our small office space. Just beware that the back is not finished so it will look best against a wall...My son assembled this for me, it did not take him any time to have this together. I honestly can state, I understand the comments on, the instruction to assemble, not being clear. I tried, myself, before asking him too. Other wise very nice desk. I arranged selves, so I could put my computer tower in, then still had enough room for the second shelf. Good buy, quick delivery! If you're on the hunt for a decent sized office desk, then this is it! I mean I display my 32" TV on the desk, and still have tons of desk room to play with, it's very pleasing. My only complaint about this desk is that it seems a little low to the ground. I am 6'1" and I feel that the keyboard tray is close to grazing my leg on even a low seat. I will probably end up taking the keyboard tray off and just putting everything ontop of the desk, as the desk is at a very nice height.I will rate this 4 stars because all the pieces were quite dirty, and I had to touch up a few boards with the included black touch-up sharpie. Otherwise, no problems.80% of the weight is from the top flat piece.even when my local delivery service delivered it with a large god damm hole on the side of the box, the desk never had any scratches on itthe bookshelf area is actually large enough to fit a full size tower pc. Hell my Corsair Graphite 600T fit snug ( although it rendered the side vents useless )I recommend a monitor stand if you plan to use multi monitors else you are going to start off with 15% of the depth of the table wasted.other notes:doesn't sway.Keyboard Tray EXTREMELY fluid, and does not lock into place unless you pull it all the way back ( i mean it helps your eyes i guess )Cables are the hardest thing to hide, especially since the back is open.Having read the other reviews, and using the desk as a laptop holder, I didn't add the keyboard shelve. I am 5'9 and I fit quite comfortably with good posture. The assembly was generally easy and straight-forward, and the desk had no flaws to it when it arrived. It is pretty sturdy, from what I can tell, and I enjoy the shelving space on the side.My main concern with the desk is that it is designed to be facing a wall: should you decide to be seated against the wall, the side that faces whomever is coming in is bare and aesthetically unpleasant. Switching the sides over to the dark side switches the desk a bit (mainly the backboard), but it's manageable. All in all, a good purchase for it's price.I wasn't sure when I ordered this that it would be a solid piece of furniture for the very low price. But it is REALLY solid. And heavy. Lovely quality of wood. But was complicated to assemble as the pieces are not identified. We had to rely on the graphics which were not that easy to read. Simply putting on a sticker with A, B, C, etc on each piece would be very helpful. The package is huge and very heavy. Love my desk!Sturdy Made in Canada Computer Desk. Easy to assemble. Fits in a small space. Perfect ergonomics for 5 ft. 10 in. person.
