For today’s headset, I am reviewing the WIZMAX PC Gaming Headset WH1 – RGB USB Wired Gaming Headset.WIZMAX is a gaming company under Hanmi Micronics Global and is based in South Korea (a country known for its entertainment and culinary side, but also known for their hardcore gamers and its competitive e-sports academies) and also location in the Philippines, which was established back in 2005.While many may not be familiar with WIZMAX, considering I review a lot of gaming hardware from all over the world, aside from K-Pop, Korean food/restaurants and Korean culture events, I have not really reviewed any gaming companies based in South Korea. So, I’m looking forward to reviewing this company’s products.First-up, I am reviewing the WIZMAX PC Gaming Headset WH1 – RGB USB Wired Gaming Headset, one of the three next to the MH1 and MH2.This is a PC headset and while I do review console headsets, I love PC gaming headsets because they are primarily are USB, they are plug and play, none of the static or problems with a 3.5mm port and everything is pretty much ready to go.The headset features an RGB effect outside the headset and LED around the mic (with an option to turn it on or off), the headset also provides virtual 7.1 surround sound and is a noise cancelling gaming headset (with an option to turn it off and on). With its price point, one of the things that people will notice that it’s a 50mm driver and not the usual 40mm driver at $50 or under. It comes with a tough longer cable (I am estimating it to be 4 ft.) which is a plus.It offers stereo 2.0, a virtual 7.1 surround sound and spatial sound. The mic is bendable and has a switch on the headset to turn on or turn off noise canceling. And a button to turn on/off the LED.But as mentioned, one of the primary things that I like about this price for a headset that it offers a 50mm neodymium drivers. Many companies offer 40mm dynamic drivers and the difference is 50mm gives you more bass. You get noise isolating ear cap cushion with a 30mm thick cushion and is fabric-based, not leather so no oversweating from the leather.Headband adjusts to headshape and the headset also has volume control.I was hoping there would be software available as the website does mention there is one in the data center, but all I was able to find is the manual. I would love to have more control over the sound, especially if you can adjust treble, bass, etc. Also, similar to their software for gaming keyboard/mice, I would love for the headset to have programmable colors. The rainbow colors are fine but sometimes I prefer a solid color. For the most part, the WIZMAX PC Gaming Headset WH1 is no doubt a headset to consider at the $50 pricepoint because it offers a 50mm driver, which many other companies tend to offer 40mm at this pricepoint. So, you do get more bass. But do know that the WH1, MH1 and MH2 have all the same specs, are all that same price but different design and lighting effects.Overall, if you want a gaming headset with a 50mm driver that provides great bass without having to spend over $50, then definitely consider the WIZMAX PC Gaming Headset WH1 – RGB USB Wired Gaming Headset.I'm not a huge audiophile but I play a bit of shooter games on my PC so I care about sound quality, especially spatial sound. It's difficult to play a shooter game without clean sound because you can't tell if there's enemy nearby. These head phones were pretty good at both spatial sound and sound quality. It has noise cancellation but I didn't care for that feature. When noise cancellation is turned on, it seemed to make the sound a bit dampened and muffled sounding.I tested the microphone in-game but didn't get a chance to extensively try it out with other players in lobby. Nobody complained about it being too loud, too quiet or anything so it's probably good. (I'll update this review if I find otherwise.) The microphone is flexible and the tip of the microphone also has an LED that indicates that it's on. However I don't see a button or anything to turn it off, so that LED must just stay on?These headphones are comfortable. They're a little big for my personal taste, but they're not heavy. The top of the band is padded and stretchy. The headphones as also padded and fairly comfortable. All the padding is like nylon weaved material. The build quality seems good. There's mini-screws in all the expected places. One nice thing that I noticed was that the LED lights can be turned off and but unlike my other headphones, it doesn't remember the previous setting. So if you unplugged the headphones and plugged them back in, the lights default to coming back on.Overall, these are decent headphones but I have other headphones that are cheaper, sound better and has better features. For the last 2 years, I've been using the RUNMUS Gaming Headset Xbox One Headset. It's not currently available, but it was an LED gaming headset costing about $30. It claimed to have a 50mm driver with surround sound. It uses a 3.5mm jack for in/output. It worked decently with surround sound and ample bass. The microphone was good most of the time but sometimes had a bunch of static.THEN, I saw this headset and thought I should try out something different. The WIZMAX headset took a moment to get used to because I had to adjust my audio settings, but it is far better than the RUNMUS headset. The WIZMAX headset has MUCH better bass and far more accurate surround sound. I play COD Warzone, and a teammate thought I was cheating because of how accurate my callouts were. I could never get that with the other headset. Plus, I don't seem to give off any static with the USB-A in/output, which is perfect. This headset also sits better on my huge head (I wear hats on the last 2 snaps). The ear cups are mesh instead of pleather like my old headset. There's much better breathability, so I can keep this headset on for hours of sweaty gameplay. The RGB lighting is very simple and, as far as I know, not controllable other than on/off. It fits my simple PC setup nicely.Overall, I think it's worth the extra $20 on cheaper headsets. I can play better and play longer.
